• The Government is concerned that there may be a temptation for the term ‘apprenticeship’ to be applied to courses that do not meet these statutory apprenticeship requirements.

This may dilute the brand, affect the reputations of training providers and give a negative experience to those attending the course.

The Government, therefore, proposes to prohibit use of the term ‘apprenticeship’ or ‘apprentice’ unless it is a statutory apprenticeship. Views are invited from prospective and current apprentices, employers and training providers. You can respond here.
